Who qualifies for a FRE Boiler Grant as part of the ECO Scheme?
If you’re a homeowner in the UK and receive income-related benefits, you may qualify for a free boiler grant through the Government’s ECO Scheme in 2023. The scheme offers free or heavily subsidised replacements for old, inefficient, or broken boilers to those who meet certain criteria.
To be eligible, your boiler must be at least 10 years old (non-condensing), or between 5-10 years old with a fault that affects its overall efficiency and operation. An engineer must also deem it beyond ‘economical’ repair. The style of your property is also considered, with older and less efficient properties receiving more funding towards the grant. If your property is already efficient, you may need to contribute a small amount towards the installation cost.
Who funds the ECO Scheme and Who installs the Boilers?
he Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme is a government initiative aimed at helping low-income households and vulnerable people in the UK to make their homes more energy-efficient. The grants are funded by the “Big Six” energy suppliers, namely British Gas, EDF Energy, E.ON, npower, Scottish Power, and SSE. These companies are required by law to meet certain targets for reducing carbon emissions and helping customers to save on their energy bills. By contributing to the ECO scheme, they are able to meet these targets while also fulfilling their social responsibility to help those in need.
The ECO scheme provides non-repayable grants to eligible households for energy-efficient improvements, such as the installation of a new boiler or insulation. The grants cover the full cost of the installation, which means that you do not have to pay anything upfront or back at any time in the future. Moreover, all of the free boiler installations are carried out by approved, qualified, and fully insured gas safe registered installers. These installers have been vetted and approved by the government to ensure that they meet the required standards for safety and quality. They will also guarantee the boiler and its installation for years to come, giving you peace of mind and helping you to save on your energy bills for many years to come.
Save money with a new modern A-rated Boiler.
Looking to save money on your energy bills? Consider upgrading to a new, efficient boiler. Older boilers waste energy and require more fuel to produce the same amount of heat and hot water. By upgrading to a new A-rated boiler through the ECO scheme, you could save up to £580 a year on your bills. Don’t waste money on an outdated boiler – switch to a new, efficient one today and start saving.
In addition to saving money on your energy bills, replacing your old boiler with a new efficient one also has environmental benefits. A more efficient boiler produces fewer greenhouse gas emissions, helping to reduce your carbon footprint and contribute to a greener future.
